Convinced of his mission, J and K tracked clues to a Factory directed by undercover agent Andy Warhol, leading them to Griffin, an Archanan with clairvoyant abilities. Griffin revealed that only K could attach the ArcNet to the Apollo 11 rocket. This journey forced J to confront the truth about K's past: that K had killed Colonel James Darrell Edwards Jr., who was actually J's father. Witnessing this event from afar, J realized his younger self's presence in 1969 prevented him from forgetting K.

The timeline shattered when Boris the Animal arrived in 2012 and declared to Agent K that he was "already dead." After K fell, J raced against a fractured space-time continuum. He secured a device from Jeffrey Price and jumped to July 16, 1969. In the past, J encountered young K, who almost neuralyzed him until J explained the stakes. They located Griffin at Shea Stadium just as younger Boris attacked. With present-day Boris joining his younger self, the trio used jetpacks to reach Cape Canaveral. Instead of neuralyzing military police, they told the truth to Colonel Edwards. The Colonel assisted them but sacrificed himself to save K from young Boris. As the rocket launched, J watched K kill his own father's killer and then reluctantly neuralyze a young James Darrell Edwards III. Returning to 2012, history was restored; J reconciled with K, having learned that his younger self's memory of K was preserved by the events he just witnessed.
